![]() mirabilis colonies appeared transparent indicating that lactose had not been fermented. The growth on EMB agar meant that gram-negative enteric bacteria had been isolated. The blood agar displayed an alpha hemolytic pattern, indicating ion leakage from the red blood cells. All three agars resulted in pinpoint, round, entire and flat colony morphology. ![]() mirabilis on nutrient agar, a blood agar plate, and eosin methylene blue (EMB). From observation under the light microscope, I found a coccus bacillus cell shape with staphylococci cell arrangement. On a microscopic level I found the organism to be gram-negative. ![]() I identified my unknown culture #13 as Proteus mirabilis.
